Saleam - 02/08/2020
Really the easiest portraits I’ve taken so far. A conversation about male beauty, collaboration and community with a friend who’s making a big transition in his life. Gordon Parks is a big inspiration to me, not necessarily in style but in his consistent work to document Black life in New York City at that time. That consistency left us a lot of beautiful images of Black people at their most vulnerable and human, and I’d like to eventually build a portfolio of images that do the same. I think this set is a good continue building off of the pictures of Chrissy.
After our shoot, some of these were featured on Byrdie in one of Saleam’s columns. So this is now also my first published work.
